‘FC wireless network used for ransom’

KARACHI: A personnel of the Frontier Constabulary (FC) Balochistan has collected ransom of Rs million from dozens of the carlifting victims in Karachi and Lahore after he managed to note down conversations of the anti car lifting cells through FC’s wireless system, it emerged here on Tuesday.

The accused Noor Kamal, a resident of Dera Ismail Khan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and posted in FC Balochistan at Quetta, posed to be a ‘Professor Father’ of the ‘spoiled children’ who had been  snatching cars of the people in Lahore and Karachi, sources in the Anti Car Lifting Cell (ACLC)  Karachi said.

The victims, who have ‘easy loaded’ Noor Kamal with amount between RS 30 to 60 thousands, also included a former Deputy Inspector General of Police in Sindh.

“The ex-DIG has paid Rs 60,000 to the professor”, an official said.

Sources in ACLS told Kamal in compliance with Shaista Khan, a man from his native Dera Ismail Khan city has also looted 25 victims of the carlifting in Lahore.

The professor’s gang of two fallen ‘under the net’ of law enforcers when he called an anti terrorism court judge after noting his phone number and details of car.

Unlike other victims, the judge contacted ACLC for help which turned out to be a point of action against the gang.

Shaista Khan, who was appointed as clerk in FC Balochistan, would ask the victims to pay certain amount in the installments through easy Pesa at the CNIC of Shaista Khan who would collect the amount from one of the Easy Pesa facilities in DI Khan city.

“Once having got the details of citizen Shaista Khan would call him and introduce himself as a professor whose spoiled siblings have become involved in the dirty business of carlifting” said SSP Irfan Bahadur, in-charge of the cell.

He would tell that despite his bad sons, he wanted to help the victims recovered their cars just by taking a meager amount.

“But once received the amount, the number would permanently switched off”, he said.

According to ACLC officials both accused were arrested from DI Khan when they were going to collect the ransom from an easy pesa centre.
